The Nollen Route on the opposite, northwest spur, is considerably more challenging with its main difficulties being on ice. This route, while never severe, includes some very exposed ridge climbing both on snow and on the fine gneissic rock which makes up the core of the Oberland. The Southeast Ridge is considered the normal route and is a great introduction to climbing in the area. It has easy access from the Jungfraujoch rail station, the convenient and close by Mönchsjochhütte, its spectacular setting in the heart of the Berner Oberland, and a variety of good routes all contribute to its popularity. It was an unforgettable experience. The Mönch is the most climbed of the peaks of the three peaks of the Berner Trilogy. I was lucky enough to reach its summit in the summer of 2022. An ice colossus that offers an exceptional panorama to those who climb it. The different shots that follow one another to guide our gaze to summit Grand Combin. I love the depth that emerges from the picture. Through photography, I prolong this moment of grace, which disintegrates as soon as the snow-covered rocks warm up in the sun. Tinted with silver, mixed with light and shadow. Thanks to the winds that were still raging at altitude, I was able to offer the mountains their most beautiful portrait. The mountains were bleached white and the sky ripped open, revealing the purity of renewed nature. The lightning immensity of a breathtaking landscape. The morning's long shadows endow the painting with an incredible dimension. I painted this picture at daybreak, when the first rays of sunlight illuminate the mountains. ![]() I painted this picture at sunrise, as the first rays of sunlight illuminate the mountains. Built on its moraine, the FXB Panossière hut, so small in the midst of this grandiose landscape, offers a breathtaking view of this glacial masterpiece. Opposite us, the Corbassière glacier, a veritable river of ice, unceasingly pours out its waters unnoticed. Finally, on the right, the Combin de Corbassière basks in the dawning sunshine. Next comes the Combin de Valsorey, famous for its vertical walls, much appreciated by steep-slope skiers. Then the Combin de Grafeneire, or Grand Combin, confronts the clouds from a height of 4,314 metres. ![]() On the left, the Combin de la Tsessette gives way to the Aiguille du Croissant. This fabulous black-and-white photograph highlights the resort's iconic summits Verbier. Halfway between the Matterhorn and Mont Blanc, the massif stands in the heart of the Alps, bearing witness to the dying splendor of the last high-mountain glaciers. The magnificent Combin dominates the Val de Bagnes.
